Forness, Terry

I met Terry early on in 10th grade as we were both tenors in what was called (rather blandly) the “Mixed Chorus” — kind of the junior varsity feeder group for the senior choir. Friendly guy, very handsome with — unlike me — a very lovely, clear, fully changed tenor voice. Here is his obituary which includes another photo from his later years.

Terry was always the life of the party with a twinkle in his eye. I met him in 7th grade at TJ Annex. At a young age, he married his fellow classmate, Mary Mansfield. Terry worked, like many of us when he was a youngster, folding boxes at Mario’s Pizza. Terry was a driver and manager for DC Yellow cab – I always thought of him as the classic character in Harry Chapin’s song “Taxi”. He then worked for Manassas Lumber and a Custom Homebuilder. He left behind a lot of good memories and his love, our Classmate, Sandy Johnson Hazelwood.
